Okay, so this thread is going to be dedicated to any bands that you think deserve to be checked out by other forum members. You MUST include a band name (duh)... Try to include at least SOME of the following, you can use my format if you think it's easier (I will continue using my format). Really try to include some sort of notes as to WHY we should be checking the band out. If I don't see some sort of explanation, I may not go look, ya know? NAME: Pathos LOCATION: Sweden STYLE: Thrashy, heavy, doomy (at times), powerish metal with VERY strong vocals and intricate guitar work.. fast nuts! WEBSITE: www.pathos.tkBAND STATUS: Signed CD TO CHECK OUT FIRST: Katharsis SONGS TO CHECK OUT FIRST: Katharsis, Revelation (my fave), Violated, Inhale (in that order) MY NOTES: This band kicks my f**kING ass, I swear it! Katharsis is their newest cd and has a new singer on the album. To me, their music is liking sticking Morgana Lefay, Eidolon, Destruction and Dark Tranquillity together. The vocals are VERY reminiscent of Messiah from Candlemass mixed with Murat from Mezarkabul (known as Pentagram in Turkey). For those of you who don't know who Murat is, if you take Messiah and put even MORE umph and power into his vocals with a bit more soaring notes, THAT'S what Paul from Pathos sounds like. EASILY in my top five of vocalists. This cd INSTANTLY went into my top five albums of ALL TIME list (metal albums, that is). I can NOT get enough of it. It's VERY VERY RARE that a band floors me that much, but they definitely succeeded! I have also gotten 63 other friends of mine so far to buy this cd. I love a lot of crunch in my music and if a band can have a killer vocalist at the same time, I am SOLD. Just a side note, Daniel Antonsson (one of the guitarists) is also in DIMENSION ZERO, which is a side project of Jesper from In Flames. If you like this kind of music, PLEASE check them out! Heavy heavy heavy stuff (but thrashy heavy, not death metal heavy).

Wow. hahaha We REALLY have the same tastes. By the way, to the people who DON'T have the cd (hehe), the artwork is done by Niklas Sundin from Dark Tranquillity. I'll add another band in a moment.

OKay, on to my second band.... NAME: Suidakra LOCATION: Germany STYLE: black, deathy, thrash with folk influences... INCREDIBLY diverse WEBSITE: for now it is www.suidakra.info , they are in the process of putting the NEW webpage up but this has lotsa info BAND STATUS: Signed CD TO CHECK OUT FIRST: Emprise to Avalon SONGS TO CHECK OUT FIRST: The Quest, Pendragons Fall, Darkane Times, Still the Pipes Are Calling MY NOTES: This is one of the most interesting bands I have come acrossed in a long while. Their sound is pretty unique in the fact that they can blend thrash, black metal, melodic death metal and folk all together in one sound. It's rare that you hear that many styles in one band. But it DEFINITELY suits them well! It's epic in a way, even though black metal, thrash and death bands aren't usually epic. The sound is just HUGE. If there were a heavy metal medival viking movie made, THIS could easily be the soundtrack. No matter the genre you are into, I can d**n near GUARANTEE you'll like this band. They have a new album out last month and you can go to the link above to get a sound sample. The new song soound sample is a little bit darker and different from Emprise to Avalon, but you can totally tell it's the same band. GO GO GO GO LISTEN!

NAME: DAYLIGHT DIESLOCATION: USA STYLE: melodic, atmospheric, doomy, stirring, powerful (Death?) Metal WEBSITE: www.daylight-dies.com, (for samples: www.mp3.com/daylightdies) BAND STATUS: signed (Relapse Recs.) CD TO CHECK OUT FIRST: No Reply (their debut) SONGS TO CHECK OUT FIRST: The Live That Divides, Four Corners MY NOTES: though hailing from the USA, this band has a very European sound, with influences from bands like older Paradise Lost ("Shades Of God"), Rapture (Finland), Katatonia and October Tide (Katatonia related). Their album's full of fairly long songs that will drag you in from the first tones, to take you on a journey through the darker parts of human emotions. Fans of the mentioned bands are doing themselves a huge injustice if they don't check out this band immediately. Warmly recommended. NAME: DETONATIONLOCATION: Netherlands STYLE: melodic and aggressive Death/Thrash Metal WEBSITE: www.detonation.nu, (for samples: www.mp3.com/detonation) BAND STATUS: signed (Osmose Productions) CD TO CHECK OUT FIRST: An Epic Defiance (their debut) SONGS TO CHECK OUT FIRST: An Epic Defiance, Sword-carved Skin (go to MP3.com for those 2) and Forever Buried Pain (<< click to download, 128 kbps, 3.37 MB, full song) MY NOTES: young band from Holland, playing aggressive and melodic Death/Thrash Metal in the Swedish vein. If you're into Dark Tranquillity, At The Gates, Death and In Flames you can't go wrong with them. The album's received rave review in many magazines so far, f.ex. read the review on DigitalMetal.com.

Sorry, I'm better at writing book reviews, but here we go NAME: Kabbal LOCATION: Monaco STYLE: Death Technique (sorry, me eez a Frenchie) WEBSITE: www.kabbal.comBAND STATUS: Signed CD TO CHECK OUT FIRST: their first album, Synthetically Revived. The two previous releases are demos. And they are preparing their second album. MY NOTES: This is a very good band, with dedicated musicians, and the addition of a new singer, influenced by Glen Benton and Legion will only make their live performances more interesting, if not disturbing. The musicians draw their inspiration from Suffocation, Death, Morbid Angel and Deicide, but their style is pretty unique in their technicity. They manage to sound brutal yet technical, with mostly mid-paced tracks, and a voice, not too growling, not too high-pitched, that allows you to understand some of the lyrics. For the anecdote, the lyrics of their first demo were never published because of censorship (cf. titles like "girl thingyl Holocaust"), yet the band members find interest in mythology (Sumerian and Babylonian) and the lyrics take you to another dimension, if not, sometimes, another world, that, undeniably, make the reader think of Morbid Angel lyrics. Their artwork was created by Jacek (?) Wisniewski , who worked for Vader The band will give a few concerts in France before going on tour in Germany, and finally settling down back on the Rocher to finish writing their next opus.

oooups, is there a kind of censorship on this forum as well?? let's try again: the censored title on their demo is "girl thingyl Holocaust", to be understood as "Vag*nal Holocaust", and not girly thing something.
I'm laughing in front of my computer at that, kabbal is so great that they are even censored by a smurf forum. If that is not an argument to check them out!! ;D

NAME: Lykathea Aflame LOCATION: Czech Republic STYLE: Death WEBSITE: don't think they have an official site...do a google search for info BAND STATUS: Signed CD TO CHECK OUT: Elvenefris SONGS TO CHECK OUT FIRST: Land Where Sympathy Is Air, To Become Shelter And Salvation, Bringer Of Elvenefris Flame...all of them! MY NOTES: Of the probably hundreds of death metal albums I've heard over the last few years, this has got to be the best album I've heard (death or otherwise) in many a year. Very brutal, but still atmospheric and even melodic at times. Many many layers of sound. Layered guitars, layered vocals even. Try to imagine Cryptopsy, then add some melodic parts, add atmosphere, take away the guitar solos (don't worry...it's actually not a bad thing because there is so much other stuff going on), and...just listen to them! It took me quite a while to find the album online. I guess it's pretty rare. Here's the link to the 1 and only mp3 I've ever found. www.obscene.cz/mp3/038.mp3 This is the song Land Where Sympathy Is Air. Also the cd is available at: www.cursedproductions.com/catalog/display_product.phtml?prodid=765&Local_Session=8ee7dff0e120712414a7632c81e4d328and www.redstream.org/Lykathea-Aflame-Elvenefris_3059.phpRed Stream.org is a little cheaper but I don't know about their shipping. Cursed productions was a couple bucks more, but I had the cd in my hands just 3 days later.
